Smart Spawners
On The Hive, mob spawners are a passive income machine. Instead of mobs spilling out, a Smart Spawner collects their drops and XP into a GUI you can harvest and sell â no mob farm building required.
What you'll learn
- âMine a spawner with a Silk Touch pickaxe to pick it up and place it anywhere
- âRight-click a placed spawner to open its collection GUI
- âDrops and XP build up inside automatically â claim them from the menu
- âSell stored loot straight from the GUI, and stack spawners for more output
- 1
Get a spawner
Mine a dungeon spawner with a Silk Touch pickaxe
In vanilla Minecraft you can't pick up spawners at all. Here you can â but only with Silk Touch.
- Find a spawner in a dungeon, mineshaft, or fortress.
- Equip a pickaxe enchanted with Silk Touch.
- Mine the spawner â it drops as an item you can carry home.
â ī¸No Silk Touch = no spawner. Double-check your pickaxe before you swing, or you'll lose the spawner permanently. - 2
Place it on your land
Set it down inside a plot you own or trust
Place the spawner block somewhere safe â ideally inside a town plot you own so other players can't break it. It immediately becomes a Smart Spawner.
âšī¸A player needs to be within about 16 blocks for the spawner to be active and accumulate loot. Build your collection room somewhere you spend time, or near an AFK spot. - 3
Open the collection GUI
Right-click the spawner to open its menu
Instead of spitting out mobs, a Smart Spawner quietly collects what those mobs would have dropped. Right-click the spawner to open its GUI, where you'll see:
- Stored loot â the items the spawner has generated
- Stored XP â experience you can claim in one click
- Controls to collect items, claim XP, and sell
No mob farm, no lag, no flooding chunk with entities â it's all handled in the menu.

Harvest and sell
Claim items and XP, or sell stored loot from the GUI
From the GUI you can pull stored items into your inventory and claim the built-up XP. Many spawners also let you sell the stored loot directly for coins without taking the items out first â great passive income.
Combined with QuickShop, a zombie or skeleton spawner becomes a steady supply of rotten flesh, bones, and gear to sell.

Stack spawners for more output
Place spawners on top of each other to multiply production
You can stack multiple spawners of the same type into one block to multiply how fast loot and XP build up. The GUI shows the current stack size.
To remove spawners from a stack later, sneak while breaking with Silk Touch to pull several at once.
âStacking turns a single collection room into a serious money-maker. Aim a few spawners of the same mob into one stack and let it run while you do other things nearby.
