Brewing with BreweryX

Ferment, distill, and age custom drinks using cauldrons, brewing stands, and barrels. Quality matters — the better your technique the better the brew.

What you'll learn

  • →Every brew starts in a water-filled cauldron with fire underneath
  • →Use a Clock to check cooking time — timing is critical for quality
  • →Some recipes also need distilling (Brewing Stand + Glowstone) and/or barrel aging
  • →Seal brews with /brew seal before selling them in a shop
  1. 1

    Ferment in a cauldron

Water cauldron + fire underneath → add ingredients → check time with a Clock → bottle with Glass Bottles

    1. Place a cauldron and fill it with water (right-click with a water bucket).
    2. Light a fire or campfire directly under the cauldron.
    3. Hold each ingredient and right-click the cauldron to add it.
    4. Right-click the cauldron with a Clock to check elapsed minutes.
    5. When time is up, right-click with Glass Bottles to collect — you get 3 bottles per batch.
    âš ī¸
Timing is everything. Cooking too long or too short lowers quality. Most recipes have a 1–2 minute window — use the Clock.
  2. 2

    Distill (some recipes only)

Recipes with Distill > 0: Brewing Stand + Glowstone Dust, run exactly N times

Check the recipe table — if Distill > 0, the bottled brew must pass through a Brewing Stand.

    1. Place your bottled brew in the top slot of a Brewing Stand.
    2. Add Glowstone Dust as the ingredient.
    3. Run it exactly the number of times the recipe requires.
    âš ī¸
Too few or too many distillations both reduce quality. Count carefully.
  3. 3

Age in a barrel (some recipes only)

Recipes with Age > 0: build a barrel, fill it, wait — 1 Minecraft year ≈ 20 real minutes

If Age > 0, the brew must sit in a barrel for that many Minecraft years. Wood type matters.

    Small barrel (8 slots):

    1. Arrange 8 Wood Stairs in an L-shape (2 wide × 2 high on two sides).
    2. Place a Sign on the bottom-left stair — write Barrel on line 1.
    3. Right-click the sign to open storage.

    Large barrel (26 slots):

    1. Build a 5×4×2 structure from Wood Planks and Stairs.
    2. Attach a Fence to the front as a tap.
    3. Place a Sign on the fence — write Barrel on line 1.
    4. Right-click the fence sign to open.
    â„šī¸
1 Minecraft year = 1 Minecraft day ≈ 20 real minutes. A recipe needing 4 years takes ~80 real minutes.
  4. 4

    Check your drunkenness

/brew info — eat Bread or drink Milk to sober up faster

Run /brew info to see your drunkenness level and the quality of the brew in your hand.

To sober up faster: eat Bread, drink Milk, or eat a Golden Apple.

  5. 5

    Sell your brews

Hold brew → /brew seal — required before placing in a QuickShop chest

    /brew seal

This locks the quality rating on the brew so buyers can see exactly what they're getting. Unsealed brews cannot be listed in shops.

Quick Reference

Commands at a glance

/brew infoCheck your current drunkenness and the quality of the brew in your hand.
/brew sealSeal a brew so it can be placed in a QuickShop chest for sale.
/brew unlabelRemove the quality label from a potion.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  • ✓The clock trick is critical — right-click the cauldron with a Clock to check the exact elapsed minutes.
  • ✓Wood type matters for aged brews. Using the wrong wood produces poor quality even if timing is perfect.
  • ✓One Minecraft year = one Minecraft day ≈ 20 real minutes.
  • ✓You can brew up to 3 bottles from one cauldron batch.
  • ✓Non-alcoholic brews like Coffee and Hot Chocolate are great for new players — no drunkenness risk.
  • ✓The Gin recipe uses Blue Flowers (Cornflowers) as an ingredient.
