Joining the Server

From installing Minecraft to walking around in the world for the first time.

What you'll learn

  • →You need Minecraft Java Edition — Bedrock won't work

  • →Get into a town ASAP — items in the wilderness are not protected

The wilderness has NO protection. Anyone can steal your items or grief your builds. Get into a town before you build anything you care about.

    Install Minecraft: Java Edition

    Bedrock (console/mobile/Win10) won't connect — you need Java

    Purchase and install Java Edition from minecraft.net.

    Any version from 1.8 to the latest release is accepted — ViaVersion handles compatibility.

    Add the server

    Multiplayer → Add Server → hivenet.ddns.net

    1. Open Minecraft → click Multiplayer
    2. Click Add Server
    3. Server Name: anything you like (e.g. HiveNet)
    4. Server Address: hivenet.ddns.net
    5. Click Done

    Connect and read the welcome message

    You spawn at the Hive — a welcome message in chat lists useful /info topics

    Double-click the server to connect. You'll land at spawn. A welcome message lists available /info topics — useful as an in-game reference.

    You start with $0. Your first coins come from selling items at the Spawn Shop or claiming /reward each day.

    Read the rules

    Run /rules in-game or visit the Rules page — ignorance is not an excuse

    Run /rules in chat, or read them on the Rules page.

    Serious violations result in a permanent ban without warning. Read them now.

    Set a home

    Stand where you want your base → /sethome → use /home to return any time

    Find a spot you want as your base. Ideally inside a claimed town (see the Claiming Land tutorial). Then:

    /sethome

    From now on, /home teleports you straight back. Name multiple homes with /sethome <name>.

    Earn your first coins

    Mine → sell at Spawn Shop, and claim /reward daily

    • Spawn Shop — mine stone, coal, wood etc. and sell them at the chests near spawn. Left-click a chest sign to sell a stack.
    • Daily reward — run /reward each login for escalating cash + items. A full 7-day streak pays $2,650 plus gear.
    • Check your balance any time with /bal.

    Get into a town

    Browse /town list or the live map → ask to join, or found your own for $50

    • Run /town list to see all towns — message a mayor to ask for an invite.
    • Check the live map to see where towns are and find unclaimed land.
    • Found your own town for $50 with /town new <name> once you have the cash.

    Joining an existing town first is the fastest way to get protected. You can always branch out later.

💡 Tips & Tricks

  • ✓Your items are NOT protected in the wilderness — get into a town before you build anything valuable.
  • ✓Claim /reward every single day. Missing one day resets your streak to Day 1.
  • ✓ViaVersion lets older clients connect, but the latest MC version gives the best experience.
  • ✓Use /tc for town chat and /nc for nation chat. Global chat (/g) is English only.
