Skills & Leveling (AuraSkills)
The Hive adds an RPG skill system on top of vanilla Minecraft. Everything you do â mining, farming, fishing, fighting â levels up a skill and unlocks permanent perks.
What you'll learn
- âJust play normally â skills level up automatically as you do things
- âEach of the 11 skills unlocks passive abilities as it grows
- âOpen the skills menu with /skills to track your progress
- âHigher levels mean double drops, more damage, and special abilities
- 1
Understand what skills are
An RPG layer on top of vanilla â actions earn skill XP
This is not in normal Minecraft. On The Hive, every action trains a matching skill. Mine some stone and your Mining skill earns XP. Chop a tree and Foraging goes up. Each skill has its own level (up to 100).
As a skill levels up it unlocks abilities â permanent bonuses that make you better at that activity. You don't buy or equip them; they switch on automatically as you level.
âšī¸You don't have to do anything special to start. Skills are earning XP from the moment you join â this guide just helps you understand and track them. - 2
Open your skills menu
/skills opens the GUI â /skill <name> shows one skill in detail
/skillsThis opens a menu showing all your skills and their current levels. Click any skill to see its abilities and how close you are to the next level.
To check a single skill quickly:
/sk <name>For example
/sk miningshows your Mining level, XP progress, and unlocked abilities. - 3
Watch your XP and stats
An action bar shows live XP gains â /stats shows your bonuses
When you perform an action, a small XP bar appears above your hotbar showing the skill and how much you gained. This is normal â it confirms the skill is leveling.
Skills also feed into stats like extra Health, Strength, and Luck. Check your totals with:
/statsâHigher Luck (from Fishing, Mining, etc.) increases your chance of rare drops across the whole server â including rare fish. - 4
Use mana abilities
Some skills give an active ability powered by mana
A few skills unlock a mana ability â an active power you trigger yourself rather than a passive bonus. Examples:
- Treecapitator (Foraging) â fell an entire tree in one chop
- Speed Mine (Mining) â a burst of haste while mining
- Charged Shot (Archery) â a powered-up bow shot
Mana refills over time. Your mana bar shows in the action bar when you use an ability. The default activation is sneak + left-click with the right tool in hand â check
/sk <skill>for the exact ability. - 5
Level the skills that matter to you
Focus on skills that match how you like to play
You don't need to grind everything. Pick what suits your playstyle:
- Builder / gatherer? Mining, Foraging, and Excavation give double drops â great for selling and stockpiling.
- Farmer / shop owner? Farming multiplies crop yields for steady income.
- Fighter? Fighting, Archery, and Defense keep you alive and hitting harder in the Nether and End.
âšī¸Doubled drops from Mining and Foraging stack with your shop income â leveling these pays for itself fast.

- âYou can't lose skill XP â it's safe to die, your levels stay.
- âMining and Foraging both have double-drop abilities. Level these first if you sell resources.
- âHigher Luck increases rare drops everywhere, including EvenMoreFish catches â see the Fishing tutorial.
- âMana abilities cost mana but cost nothing else. Use them freely; mana refills on its own.
- âEach skill caps at level 100 â there's plenty of long-term progression.
